DEM Party denied the claims that another name will replace Sırrı Sureyya Onder in the İmralı delegation. "The meeting with the Minister of Justice will be held by our group deputy chairpersons due to Onder's health problem and Pervin Buldan's hospitalisation," the statement said.
Human rights defender Ahmet Faruk Unsal said Abdullah Öcalan's call was a "new beginning" and added, "Öcalan has presented a perspective that puts the demand for democratisation at the centre. Turkey needs to fulfil this call."
Families whose relatives are imprisoned amphasised that the process can move forward with the physical freedom of all prisoners, especially Abdullah Öcalan.
